Mail Media Centre environmental graphics

Following the re-brand of their Mail Media Centre, Royal Mail asked 400 to develop new environmental graphics that would reflect the facility's positioning as the central resource for information and innovation in direct mail. Floor to ceiling prints, bold colours, 3D lettering and distinctive furniture enhance the creative environment, reinforce the brand style and provide an eye-catching, professional and inspirational space.

Royal Mail Rathbone Place reception graphics

As part of the refurbishment of their corporate headquarters, Royal Mail approached 400 to design an eye-catching graphic wall for
their new reception.

Briefed to create a feature that would communicate the heritage of the company as well as it's current standing and future direction, we developed a visual time-line featuring hundreds of images that led the viewer on a journey through Royal Mail's past, present and future.

Imagery from the Royal Mail archives weaved into those of modern day postal services, creating a 3m x 5m wall that would engage both visitors and passers-by. The individual image panels allow the display to be easily and cost-effectively updated to showcase new services, resulting in a display that can engage, educate and evolve with the business.

Royal Mail UPU Congress Invitation design and event graphics

Briefed by Royal Mail to create impactful event graphics for their reception at the Universal Postal Union Congress in Geneva, we proposed a theme that reflected a set of stamps launched to celebrate the centenary of Ian Fleming's birth. We designed the invitation for the event as a custom manila envelope with magnetic closure to reflect the James Bond theme and large format graphics, in the style of the iconic opening sequences of the films, delivered impact at the event.

Royal Philatelic Collection exhibition design

When part of the world's most comprehensive collection of Great Britain and Commonwealth postage stamps was to be put on public display at The Stamp Show, Royal Mail turned to 400 to design a distinctive, secure, gallery-like space that reflected the rarity and value of the exhibits.

The distinctive, dramatically-lit, architectural form of the stand delivered a highly visible presence, with sculptural shapes and a sweeping, elliptical layout leading visitors through the exhibition, with colour and engaging floor-to-ceiling prints providing definition between the different parts of the collection. The priceless exhibits were clearly displayed in bespoke cases that we custom designed to incorporate security, lighting and captions to ensure a memorable, up-close and informative viewing experience for record-breaking number of number of visitors.

Royal Mail at 25th UPU Congress
We were approached by Royal Mail to develop branding, literature and environmental graphics for the prestigious Great Britain Reception at the 25th UPU Congress in Doha. With 1200 international delegates from 191 countries attending, the reception gave the GB and Royal Mail Group a unique opportunity to highlight their commitment to the UPU and to network in a relaxed environment away from the day-to-day activities of the Congress.

The project demanded application of a distinctive visual style to materials including invitations, tickets, brochures, signage and stage-sets, so we developed a versatile, graphic illustration of the UK's skyline that could be easily, consistently and cost-effectively reproduced across a broad range of applications.

The strong sense of Britishness was reinforced with a bold red, white and blue colour palette and further enhanced by incorporating the recent Olympic Stamp Issues, including the Gold Medal Winners Stamps featuring GB's most successful athletes, in galleries throughout the Reception and on the printed literature.
