September | ThePunchBowl.net surfs out of the 1800’s.
The Pennsylvania Punch Bowl, first published in 1899, has maintained virtually the same look and feel from print to web. When it came time for a new website, the Punch Bowl came to 400 to update their on-line look.
The result is a dynamic website that incorporates the old with the new. By using a colour scheme that is reminiscent of the Victorian era applied to a fresh design that appeals to Punch Bowl's enlightened readership, 400 created a fully updateable site using a coded CMS system in ASP.
Now, the staff can login into, add articles, upload pdfs and manage their entire site without any knowledge of web design and without compromising the look and feel of the site.
“Not only is the site a breeze to update- and mind you, I barely have enough technological aptitude to play Minesweeper- it actually has more even functionality. All the parts we update regularly, not just the daily columns but also the archive of past issues, and the contact info, is all changeable in a few clicks, which is unbelievable... We've never had the ability to get our writing out there this quickly and this often, it's all very exciting. The look and feel is also great, it's just like the Punch Bowl, in classy website form.”
